How to make cabinet paint for your home
Cabinet paint is one of the easiest and cheapest ways to create a rustic style of house paint.
And, as it is, it is very easy to get the job done.
The DIY section of this page will walk you through how to make a basic cabinet paint with a couple of tools and a bit of patience.
First of all, you’ll need a couple pieces of cabinet paint.
The type of paint will depend on what you’re going to use it for and how you want to decorate your home.
If you want a rust-colored paint for a traditional Victorian style, you might use paint that has a reddish hue to it.
If that is your thing, you could use a clear paint.
Then, add a little bit of spray paint to the mix.
For a rust/cabochon-style look, you may want to go with a darker paint to give your rustic-looking pieces more depth and character.
If the look is your style, then a metallic-blue or blue/red-brown paint might be the way to go.
And finally, you should have some rust-cabenet paint to go along with the base coat.
For that, we recommend adding a couple coats of primer.
For the best results, try mixing the primer with the paint and using it on the rust-covered walls and floor.
This will give your cabinets a bit more of a natural patina, which will give them that rustic look that will compliment your overall design.
