‘I thought it was going to kill me’: Painting kitchen cabinets for Christmas
When you look at the images, the first thing that comes to mind is the sheer size of the painting cabinets.
But you can’t forget that the paint roller also came with this huge painting cabinet.
“It was like a painting of my childhood,” said Sarah O’Hara, who painted the cabinets.
“I didn’t know what I was doing, and I thought I was going a little crazy,” she added.
O’Harah says she knew what she was doing when she decided to paint the cabinets on Christmas Eve, but it didn’t take long for the painting to be ruined by the roller.
“The paint was all melted, and it started getting into the paint drawer,” she said.
“It was just really messy.”
The cabinets were damaged, so O’Sara went to the paint shop to get it repaired.
“I just wanted to get rid of it, and the manager was kind enough to come out and help me out with the paint,” she recalled.
The cabinet’s paint was now dry, but O’Shea says the roller wasn’t quite done.
“There were holes, and cracks and cracks in the paint and it was starting to fall off,” she explained.
“Then the roller came out and I was like, ‘What the hell is this?'”
While the paint was drying, O’Hera noticed a hole in the top of the cabinet.
That’s when she knew something was very wrong.
“My husband saw it and he said, ‘It’s broken,'” she said, adding she called her husband to check on the damage.
“He went to see the manager, and they told him it was broken and they needed to go in there and get it fixed.”
After she went to get help, O ‘Hera says she noticed cracks in her painting, and a hole on the cabinet’s top.
“When he went back and he got it fixed, he was like ‘this is terrible,'” she recalled, adding the cabinet has been sitting in her house for almost a year.
It took a few weeks for the cabinet to be repaired, but now she is back to painting her own cabinets.
O’hera said she is still not satisfied with the cabinets paint, but said she wants to give the project another go.
“This is my little piece of Christmas,” she remarked.
“And I’m not going to let anyone stop me from doing it.”
